Grandma's remedy, really?
Our grandmothers used to say it when they heard us cough: "Here, take a spoonful of honey." So we can guess that honey must have antitussive properties, but still... is it a myth or reality?
Honey
Honey is made from the nectar of plants or honeydew collected from certain plants. It has the medicinal properties of the flowers foraged. It is a food of choice, it contains approximately the same amount of sugar or calories as other sweetening agents, but due to its higher sweetening power, it is an interesting choice because it is consumed in smaller quantities.
It helps prevent diseases by increasing the resistance of our body to external and internal aggressions. It is antiseptic , eliminates bacteria and provides relaxation . Through its softening, toning and nourishing action, it promotes skin rejuvenation.
Pollen
Pollen is collected by bees in two different ways. The first harvest is done indirectly, by foraging for nectar, the pollen from the flowers clings to the bee's hairy body and she brings it back to the hive. When the need for pollen is greater in the hive, workers then voluntarily specialize in its collection and bring it back in the form of balls.
Pollen is the richest food known ! The only one on earth to contain 20 amino acids, from which proteins are built. Bee pollen is invigorating, stimulating and its proteins are very easily assimilated.
The wax
Wax is secreted by young bees using their wax glands. It is made up of more than 300 molecules, it is a very complex compound.
Beeswax softens and nourishes the skin , it is used to treat damaged and problem skin. It has properties anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and healing . In the form of a candle, the melting wax generates negative ions in the air, these are beneficial for health. They help improve mood and of promote sleep .
